The athletic golf shoe is all the rave these days, with more comfortable stability, breathable and moisture-restistant material, and an overall lighter experience. “I love the feel of NIKE FREE for training, so I asked Tobie if it was possible to bring that technology to the golf course. It’s exciting to see a conversation like that come to life”, added Tiger. Featuring Nike’s “natural motion” Free technology, the Tiger Woods Prototype golf shoes ($TBD) also integrate Nike Flywire parts, a polyurethane-coated stretch fabric used int the construction of Nike’s Hyperfuse basketball shoes, as well as a heel that’s created from recycled Nike Air Max units. Tiger Woods Golf Course Design

We all know the story; athlete of the decade, first athlete billionaire, shattered records, and the one fateful day in November a couple years back that changed everything. At a prime age of 36 it seems like Tiger Woods has his best golfing days behind him. Before all the hoopla and cocktail waitresses, recession-proof Tiger was preparing himself to launch a mix of high-end golf course projects around the world.

Below are the state of Tiger Woods Design projects:

The Tiger Woods Dubai – Announced in 2006, Woods planned to develop a 7,700-yard (7,000 m), par-72 course named Al Ruwaya (meaning “serenity”), a 60,000-square-foot clubhouse, a golf academy, 320 exclusive villas and a boutique hotel with 80 suites. The development was scheduled to be finished in late 2009 at Dubailand, the region’s largest tourism and leisure project. However, economic difficulties in Dubai have delayed the completion of this project. A Feb. 1, 2011 report on The Golf Channel stated the project has been abandoned, with only six holes completed.

The Cliffs at High Carolina- The Cliffs at High Carolina will mark Tiger Woods Design’s first project in North America. The private course will sit at about 4,000 feet in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina. Full golf memberships at the Cliffs start at $150,000. Construction began in 2007 and was planned to be completed in 2011. Expected completion is now slated for late 2012 with a lingering mess of issues in continued financing of the project.

Punta Brava- Woods is also designing a golf course in Mexico. This will be his first oceanfront course. It will be called Punta Brava, which will be located by Ensenada, Baja California. The project will include an 18-hole course designed by Woods, 40 estate lots of up to three acres in size, and 80 villa homes of up to 7,000 square feet. Construction was supposed to begin in 2009, with the project scheduled for completion in 2011. However, construction continues to be pushed back and it looks like we won’t see a Tiger Woods Design golf course in Mexico before 2013.
